In June 2010, the sortimat Group was incorporated into Canada-based ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. ATS is a major player in specialist engineering solutions for assembly and inspection systems. Assembly and feeder-technology activities are concentrated in Winnenden, in Baden-Württemberg, south-western Germany. The young and rapidly expanding handling-systems business is based in Villingen-Schwenningen, in the same region. Solutions are developed, designed and built at both sites.
We also have subsidiaries in the US and India, with their own development and production facilities, and serving international customers. The merger with ATS allows us to offer customers around the world an even broader range of solutions and services. It has also brought us closer to global markets, making transportation easier and more cost-effective.
Our site in Rolling Meadows near Chicago manufactures assembly machines primarily for the medical technology, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, healthcare, automotive, and electronics and electrical engineering industries, and for diagnostic devices. The facility serves the USA and Central America. In addition, sortimat Technology India has a production plant in Chinchwad near Pune – enabling us to support the Asian market with its burgeoning manufacturing industry.
